Factory-Campaigned Porsche 911 RSR – Chassis #9903

Chassis 9903 is one of a select few Porsche 911 RSRs campaigned by the factory in both the IMSA and WEC championships, distinguished by its striking Adidas Techno livery. Raced as #92 by Porsche AG Team Manthey in the World Endurance Championship and as #912 by Porsche North America in IMSA, this car saw extensive competition throughout the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Its racing pedigree includes a GTE Pro class victory at the 2015 6 Hours of Bahrain and another class win at the 2016 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas, underscoring its significance as a werks entry. Currently presented in its EVO configuration, chassis 9903 features the 2016 aerodynamic upgrades, including a repositioned rear wing, an enlarged rear diffuser, a modified front spoiler lip, and widened side sills. Safety enhancements include a revised seat and an enlarged roof hatch, reflecting Porsche’s continued commitment to performance and driver protection.

At the conclusion of the 2016 racing season, chassis 9903 was acquired directly from Porsche by the owner of Core Autosport—the American team that partnered with Porsche to operate its North American factory GTLM program from 2014 to 2020. As a result of this close factory relationship, chassis 9903 is accompanied by one of the most comprehensive spares packages ever assembled for a Porsche werks race car. Included are spare body panels, electronics, suspension components, gearbox, factory manuals, and engine, ensuring long-term usability and support for continued competition or preservation. A detailed inventory of the spares is included for serious inquiries.

A rare opportunity to acquire a factory-campaigned Porsche 911 RSR with global competition pedigree. Eligible for prestigious events such as Rennsport Reunion and Le Mans Classic, chassis #9903 represents a significant chapter in modern Porsche motorsport history. Campaigned alongside the legendary Porsche LMP 919 program, it stands as a testament to Porsche’s engineering excellence and racing legacy.

2013–2016 Porsche 911 RSR (Type 991) The last rear engined RSR

The Porsche 911 RSR (Type 991), derived from the seventh-generation 911, represented a significant evolution of the successful 997 GT3 RSR. Produced from 2013 to 2016, it was the final RSR to retain the traditional rear-engine layout, marking the end of an era in Porsche’s RSR racing lineage.

A key objective in the development of the Porsche 911 RSR (Type 991) was achieving improved weight distribution and a significantly lower center of gravity compared to its predecessor. Extensive use of carbon fiber—applied to the body panels, underbody, dashboard, and interior components—contributed to both rigidity and weight reduction. Lightweight polycarbonate windows and a lithium-ion battery, derived from Porsche’s GT road models, further enhanced the car’s performance-focused design.

As with the production model, the Porsche 911 RSR (Type 991) featured an extended wheelbase, increased by approximately ten centimeters, enhancing stability and handling. A newly developed double wishbone front suspension replaced the previous McPherson strut design, offering improved responsiveness and precision. Porsche Motorsport also introduced a lightweight racing gearbox, operated via paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. Powering the car was a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine, carried over from the 997 GT3 RSR, delivering 460 horsepower.

The visual design language of the Porsche 911 RSR (Type 991) is defined by its aggressively flared fenders and prominent front cooling air intakes, which enhance aerodynamic efficiency and thermal performance. A redesigned air ducting system enables a centrally mounted front radiator, offering improved cooling capacity over its predecessor. Concurrently, the cockpit climate control system was optimized for greater efficiency. Engineered for endurance racing, the RSR features a quick-change bodywork concept, allowing rapid replacement of key components such as the front end, front lid, and rear panel via integrated quick-release mechanisms—significantly reducing maintenance time during competition.
